Breaking Up...Ain't That Hard to Do

"Fire Melts Ice"
He sat in the bustling little café at a table in the back. The man seated opposite of him, his advisor, blathered on about the importance of finding a mate. Sesshomaru picked up his latte and absently took a drink. He had heard this speech numerous times. Quite frankly, it was getting old.
Jaken noticed his lord's disinterest. Letting out a low sigh, he continued. "My lord, it's unheard of for a taiyoukai, especially one of your station! You've been taiyoukai for thousands of years! You need a mate!"
By the end of his tirade, Jaken's face had flushed to an impressive red. Sesshomaru bit back the chuckle that threatened to erupt and sat down his mug. He opened his mouth to retort, but was interrupted by a commotion at a table in the front of the café.
Scarlett sat at the table, biting her lip. Her dick of a boyfriend had brought her to the quiet little café to deliver the deathblow to their relationship. He must've thought the environment would keep her from causing a scene. Ha. Fat chance.
"And, ummm, I've been seeing her for about six months now." Will, said dick of a boyfriend, stammered. Scarlett's head snapped up, fire blazing in her eyes.
"Look, ass! I could deal with the breakup speech! But, you tell me you've been cheating on me! Are you really that fucking stupid?" Her voice rose as she continued. "That's fine, though. Just fucking dandy! You and your new broad can sod off and kiss my ass!" Punctuating her statement, she lifted the mug holding her mocha and dumped it on his head. Satisfied, she finished up. "Oh, nice try by bringing me to the coffee shop of all places. As if THAT would stop me from reaming your pathetic ass out!" Scarlett gathered her things and headed towards the door.
"My lord." Jaken frantically tried to get Sesshomaru's attention, which was currently fastened on the loudmouthed female in the front of the shop.
Sesshomaru stood and waved Jaken off like a pesky fly. For reasons unknown, he found himself walking across the room towards the girl. Normally, loud, obnoxious women turned him off, but the fire in this one stuck him. He arrived at the door just as she did. Reaching over her, he pushed and held it open. "Allow me."
Bright, lagoon green eyes looked up at him. She blushed slightly and smiled. "Thanks. It's good to know chivalry isn't completely dead." Scarlett threw a scathing look towards Will who was still wiping mocha off himself.
Sesshomaru smirked. He leaned down towards her ear, his breath warming it. "That's what happens when you associate with little boys."
Scarlett snorted. "I'm sure you know all about dating boys." She took in his long platinum hair, his graceful features, and his immaculate clothes. "Oh, yeah." No man looked like that and was straight. It just didn't happen. Damn.
His amber eyes darkened at her comment. Did she just call his sexuality into question? A devilish smirk crossed his face. "I can assure you, it's not the touch of a male I desire." He lightly ran his knuckles down her arm, watching the goose bumps trail his touch.
Her breath hitched in her chest. That smirk and the touch sent heat pooling in her lower belly. Then rational thought kicked in. "I get it. Hit on the girl that just had the humiliating public breakup. That's a sure way to get laid." She shook his fingers off. "I'll pass." Scarlett ran a hand through her short, spiky hair and pushed her bangs out of her face. "Now if you'll excuse me, there are pictures I have to burn." With that, she ducked under his arm and exited the café.
