Part 1

Story Title: The Bridge

Pairing: Kagome/Inuyasha, Miroku/Sango

Disclaimer: I really do wish I owned Inu-kun and gang so i wouldn't have to go to work and school. But I don't. Inu-kun is owned by Rumiko Takahashi and Viz productions. Although I do own the third movie and a t-shirt *dances*

Warning: This fic contains swearing, rape, and some instances of m/m and incest. Not your cup of tea? Don't read, don't rate, and don't review. Everyone else: enjoy.

Other Warning: This fic contains fluff and WAFF heaps and mountains of it. (in addition to the citirus) Not your cup of tea? Don't read, don't rate, don't review. Oh and don't hate me. It isn't nice, I am only human.

AN: This is my first shot at a story that contains both WAFF and hardcore lemon scenes. It may turn out like shit but don't kill me because of that. Just don't read it. Also since this is my first shot at this kind of thing please try to be nice? Please? I would love reviews and contructive critisism, I recognise this story isn't perfect. Let me know what is wrong with it. Also I did have this spell checked and betta-ed but that doesn't cover everything so please ignore the (probably numberous) spelling and grammar mistakes.

The Bridge

Part 1

Kagome ran down the darkened street. Her raven color tresses flying out behind her, blue eyes clouded over with quickly thickening tears. It was cold outside, even more so to the young girl who wore only thin jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt. A fine mist was falling down from the heavens by the time she reached her destination.

She just couldn’t take it anymore. School was rotten and horrible, her parents expected her to be a good little princess and get good grades. Her mother kept trying to set her up with her friend’s sons who all happened to be extremely cocky or dim, or even worse: both. Her grandpa was being senile and trying to convince her to take over the family business which she had no interest in. It was like all they cared about was what she could do to uphold the family name, not what was best for her.

Oh no, it wasn’t like she cursed her family or anything. Actually quite the contrary. She got decent grades, humbled the defenseless idiots, and even considered going into the business to please her grandpa. Still it would be nice if they respected her wishes in a few things. Like whether or not she had to attend lame ass balls, or who she could and couldn’t date.

Her white tennis shoes crunched on the sand of the play park. True it was a bit run down and even creepy looking with the mist, but Kagome always felt a strange sense of relief when she came here. It was a place to unwind. She would sit in the middle of that little bridge structure in the play park and just think.

Yes she realized it was dangerous for a young, human girl to be wandering around at ten o’clock at night. What with all sorts of creatures looming about. Like any other child Kagome had been told the frightening tales of demons that would love to skin her alive.

Unlike most children Kagome never really thought a demon would skin her alive. They were intelligent creatures just like her and deserved proper respect, not hushed rumors and horror stories. She had seen a demon once, a young fox demon in the forest when she was only eight. She had run away because her parents were forcing her to go to her aunties birthday party. She hated her aunt.

At first she had just stood there and looked at the demon. It was only a kid. Probably about five or six in human years with red hair and green eyes. The thing had merely waved to her and skipped off into the forest, probably back to his parents. He certainly didn’t skin her alive.

Kagome’s blue eyes flicked up to her favorite spot on the bridge, only to find that another youth was already sitting there.

A male around her own age, dressed in torn up jeans and a plain red t-shirt. His feet were bare, dangling an inch above the ground as he sat and looked up at the full moon. He didn’t seem to mind the cold or the drizzle, or he was merely more occupied with the moon. Then Kagome raised her eyes to find a truly shocking sight. Snowy white, slightly tangled hair fell down the boy’s back, stopping half way. Two fuzzy, white dog ears perched on top of his head. Dog ears which swivelled slightly as her shoe met the ground, causing a crunching noise.

Kagome paused, wondering just what to do. Any sensible human would most likely run as far away as possible while praying to all the gods they could think of that the demon didn’t chase after them. However this might be Kagome’s one chance to actually see a demon up close, possibly even talk with one. She couldn’t pass that up!

Besides if the youth really wanted to hurt her he most likely could. Demons were supposed to be light-years faster than humans so what was the point of running?

The teenage girl took a step forward, slowly and carefully. She definitely didn’t want to freak the guy out. She would be freaked out if some random person came up and talked to her this late at night. But gradually she felt her strides becoming more relaxed.

The dog ears atop the boy’s head twitched again, swivelling backwards to catch the most possible amount of sound. For a human this girl was unusually quiet in her movements, and unlike most humans she was still walking more or less in his direction. Was she insane or merely stupid? He could already smell her scent, like jasmine and honey with a hint of fruitiness from her hair.

Kagome was only a few yards away from the demon youth. Only the play structure separated them now. With the slightest hint of a smile Kagome climbed the plastic steps to reach the slide and ultimately the bridge. At least if the demon killed her she wouldn’t have to go to that lame ass dance at school on Friday.

She was too close now, much to close for the demon’s comfort. Why didn’t she run? Any smart person would run. On some level this made the boy angry, was he not worth fearing or something? But on the other hand it made him very interested in the girl. This mixture of anger and curiosity kept him rooted to the spot, lingering much longer than he should.

Kagome had reached the bridge. The youth stiffened slightly as she stepped onto the first brown, plastic plank, causing the whole bridge to jingle slightly. It was made from seven plastic segments and dipped slightly in the middle, which is where the demon was resting. These segments would cause the bridge to sway and jangle when people ran across it, the main reason for the green handrails on each side of it. These handrails ran from one end of the bridge to another and consisted of two parallel bars running horizontally with small vertical bars supporting the two larger ones.

The demon was sitting on the bridge, his arms folded over the lower bar, his head resting in his hands. From this distance, or lack thereof, Kagome could catch a glimpse of enchanting golden eyes and masculine, yet slightly childish features.

Kagome finally made her way to the boy’s side and leaned back on the railing so that she was looking down on him. Her cold, fear, and curiosity momentarily forgotten she smiled a bit and said rather plainly, “Your in my seat.”

Golden orbs lashed upwards to meet those of the girl’s. Anger flickered in them and the demon growled slightly as he spat back, “I don’t see your name on it.”

Kagome was taken aback. True he had reacted with aggression, but it was nothing like what she thought he would do. She had imagined rather him either laughing cruelly before killing her with one swipe of his clawed fingers, or merely ignoring her for being of a “lesser race”. He had reacted more in way someone with a troubled mind might reply. Lashing out without a care for the other’s feelings because that person had too much on his mind.

Still smiling slightly Kagome circled to the demon’s other side, now that she had some reason to believe he wasn’t going to kill her unless she provoked him. She took a seat a careful measured distance from him, but the man scooted a bit further. Kagome looked up at him, shining blue eyes meeting startled gold ones and reached out to place a hand on one of the small vertical bars of the handrail.

“It does too have my name on it. See.” Kagome pointed at the small kanji engraving of her first name on the bar. Yep, she had done that about a year ago with her pocket knife from home, to be able to prove to others, and herself, that this was her place.

The demon was now throughly intrigued by the strange human girl. Not only had she just sat down next to him, which he might add was very uncomfortable, she had proved him wrong. She had probably been planning on him saying what he did just so she could prove him wrong.

“Keh! You knew I was going to say that didn’t you wench!” He said irritably, making a frustrated noise that would be hard for a human to reproduce.

The girl turned to smile at the frustrated boy, her smile lighting up her face, her angry tears a thing of the long past. “Maybe.” She replied carefully, “Actually I thought you would just ignore me but still, I’m glad you didn’t. It was fun tricking you.”

“It’s hard to ignore some random human wench who comes and sits next to demons for no reason.” He said even more irritably, “Or do you have some sort of death wish. I could easily grant it.” It was hard to tell if he was being sarcastic or not, but no– there was a hint more sarcasm in his voice.

“No I don’t actually!” Kagome said, her voice rising a bit as the obvious insult hit her full blast. “Gosh I was only making conversation. You were the one who came and stole my seat.”

“Well I’m sorry.” He exclaimed, sarcasm dripping from his words, “I had no idea that this place was so infested with human scum.”

Kagome’s cheeks puffed out a bit in anger. “You’re a jerk you know that!” Kagome yelled. Then suddenly a smile broke out around her face, the complete absurdity of this argument had just hit her. They were arguing about who had rights to the bridge, like a couple of five year olds.

“Listen to us! We’re like a couple of kids arguing over who gets what.” Kagome giggled, leaning back so that she was lying relaxed on her back on the bridge. The cold had hit her again and her skin was becoming steadily icier.

“Huh?” The demon blinked a few times before he turned to look at the now lying girl. Her shirt had come up a bit, showing off a half inch of the skin of her stomach. Goose bumps had broken out over her skin from the cold and he realized as a human she must be freezing.

“You should leave, go back to where ever the hell you live. You’re gonna freeze if you stay out here.” He spat at her bitterly.

Kagome shook her head and asked, “Hey you know what time it is?”

“Huh?” This girl never ceased to amaze him. He turned to look up at the moon, his ears flicking up from their semi-relaxed pose. “About eleven.”

“Oh.” She let out a soft sigh of understanding, “I’ll go back in a little bit. I guess. Sometimes I wish I could just stay out here, the sky is so beautiful.” She gave another sigh and turned her gaze from the demon in front of her to the sky above her.

“Why would you want to stay outside if you had a choice?” The words were out of his mouth and fading in the air before he even realized he’d spoken. His tone was indifferent again but of course that was his way of saying he was actually interested.

Kagome paused, still entranced by the night sky before finally turning to look him in the eye. “I get tired of it there. Parents who want you to be perfect and try to run your life. It would be so nice just to camp out under the stars without a care in the world.”

“Not that simple. The demons out here would eat you for dinner.” He replied with a soft snort.

Another sigh from the girl at his side, obviously ruing his utterly truthful words. Suddenly she propped herself back up into a sitting position and pointed out, “You haven’t eaten me yet puppy boy.”

“Keh!” Was the only immediate response she got from him. Although he could tell her words were entirely joking the dog joke was a low stab. “Don’t call me “puppy boy”.”

Kagome laughed a bit at this. The dog eared man not wanting to be called a puppy, it was a bit hard with those ears just waiting to be petted. Finally she realized she had been staring stupidly at him and looked away blushing.

He noticed the girl’s blush and instantly looked back at the sky, a gentle flush of pink rushing into his cheeks as well. Then he was brought back by the sound of her voice.

“Well then what am I to call you? A name would help.”

Silence as the mist continued to fall, dampening the pairs garments and adding to Kagome’s freezing temperature. Then finally, “Inuyasha.”

The name was uttered softly, only loud enough for Kagome to catch, as if this boy, Inuyasha was just waiting for demons to jump upon hearing his name spoken aloud.

“Inuyasha is it? Pretty name, I like it. Hey um, mine’s Kagome in case you were wondering.” She replied, looking at Inuyasha with her eyes shining.

Inuyasha endured the gaze for about ten and a half full seconds before looking away, “What are you staring at wench?”

Kagome bit her lip and looked away, blushing again. It was later now and she was sorely regretting not bringing a jacket. She had to get home but she felt that she couldn’t let this Inuyasha out of her grasp.

“Inu– yasha?” She asked timidly, stumbling over his name and turning look nervously at him.

“What?” Came his surely, too cool to care response.

“Do you think you could come back here tomorrow night? Like at around nine?” She asked, knowing full well she was asking for way too much.

“Why the hell would I do that?”

She wasn’t looking at him anymore, she couldn’t for risk of becoming more attached to the demon. He was just so interesting, like nothing she had ever seen before. Talking to a man who was so blunt, without the need to stand on courtesy, was so... refreshing. Almost as refreshing as the gentle mist above her.

“Because... I want to see you again. Your very... fun to talk to... better than my family.” Kagome finally managed to say as she slowly brushed a hand through her hair.

He was? Inuyasha himself had no proof of that, except for the girl in front of him. She was so strange. She didn’t run or fear him like other humans, but she was respectful of him and seemed to recognize his limits and only push them slightly. Nor did she scorn him as other demons did. Inuyasha knew what the consequences of having his dog ears was. More so than Kagome who only saw them for their cuteness.

She merely wanted to talk to him, to get to know him like she would any other person. He might as well be human to her. No not exactly that, she still realized and accepted that he was a demon. You would be stupid not too. But she treated him as an equal. They were on the same playing field.

“Keh! I’ll think about it wench. Now get back to where ever the hell you came from before you die of cold.” Inuyasha finally said, folding his arms over his chest and looking away from the girl.

“Arigato Inuyasha. I really hope you come!” With that Kagome slid underneath the handrail of the bridge and took off in a fast pace towards her home. All the way puzzling over Inuyasha and his strange, yet refreshing, ways.

As Kagome faded into the distance her scent faded as well, finally leaving only brief trances of that smell of honey and jasmine that had been so close to him before. And strange enough Inuyasha found himself slightly incomplete without it’s source next to him.
