I do not own InuYasha, nor make money from this story.
Prologue: In the Begining, There Was a Backpack
Artificial Love
I wrote this at work when I forgot a book. If it sux, it sux. I won't loose any sleep over it. It's kinda growing on me actually. I plan on finishing it, but you know what they say about best laid plans. If I don't, don't kill me. I like living.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. I thought I did once, but the pills are helping.

Prologue: In the beginning, there was a backpack
Kagome groaned, as she hoisted her gargantuan yellow backpack out of the well, and onto the ground beside her. Wiping the thin sheen of sweat from her forehead, she began the daunting task of situating the pack onto her shoulders. While she did this, she let her thoughts drift to how she had spent her time in the future. 'That shop,' she thought to herself. 'That was the weirdest place I've ever seen.'
Indeed, the shop she had visited was strange. More like something she would have expected to find in the feudal era. It was loaded with herbs. The place had an herb for every fathomable use. That was not what struck her as odd however. It was things that they had, such as books of spells, and bones. Supposed magical amulets, and also a wide variety of potions that the shopkeeper swore up and down did wondrous things.
A light blush touched her pale cheeks, as she remembered the potion that had drawn her,and that she had ultimately bought. She hadn't been able to resist. It was a potion, that, having been drunk, makes the drinker fall deeply in love with the first person they come in contact with. She smiled as she thought of A Midsummer Nights Dream, and the love potion that the fawn puck had placed in the lovers eyes. 'Lets hope this ends better,' she thought, as she started the short walk towards kaede's hut.
'Inuyasha...' She said to herself, as she savored the sound it made rolling around in her head. 'I love you so much, but I can't be sure of how you feel about me. I want to know so badly. Do you love me too?' She shook her head. 'I don't for one second believe this potion will actually work. But I might as well try it. I'd do anything to have Inuyasha love me back.'
As she walked, she wondered where the particular hanyou she had just been daydreaming about was. Usually he would have been waiting at the well for her, so that he could yell at her for leaving in the first place, and being gone so long, and how many jewel shards they could have found if not for her constant need to be at that *school* place. Not to mention his questions about Hojo who he would not stop calling Hobo no matter how many times she corrected him. All in all she would have been kind of glad for the quiet, if it hadn't meant that Inuyasha wasn't with her. She continued to walk, oblivious to the amber eyes that followed her from a nearby tree.

So whadda ya think? Good? Bad? Whatever? Oh well. I guess if you really want to tell me, you will. I'm almost done with the second chapter which is about inu chan and Miroku. No ai for them yet. Don't cry. I bet you can guess where this story is going. If you do, don't tell the slow kids. I want it to be a surprise. Reviews are greatly appreciated. It's my first ever fanfic though, so be gentle.
