Chapter One
A groan escaped her throat as Kagome Higurashi looked at the mark placed on her essay. Seemed no matter how hard she tried life was continuing to shovel shit in her face. She was trying her best to make it through her freshman year of college but missing a lot of high school was having it's effect. She'd barely graduated to begin with. Now she was paying for her adventure to the past in more ways than one. Life seemed much simplier when she was merely running for her life. It was either kill or be killed, now it was pass or listen to her mother.
Having Souta as a straight A student didn't help matters either. He was constantly rubbing the fact in her face. Didn't they ever stop to remember that she had been in the past helping to save the world? Not to mention everything else that had happened in her life. Losing her first love and being sent home without a choice had a major impact on her.
Life just seemed dull these days without Naraku lurking around trying to kill her and her friends. Then again her professor's smile sometimes reminded her of the evil hanyou. She often wondered if Oniguma had been reincarnated already. It seemed the bastard had it out for also for some reason reinstating her belief. She'd spent hours on her essay and he had given her a horrible mark. Thoughts of slashing his tires entered her mind or putting a bag of shit in his desk.
She placed her head on her desk wanting to throw her book at the back of his head. Her fingers tightened around the edge. The thought of hearing the crunch of his skull giving in would be sweet music to her ears. The bastard had actually grinned at her as he handed it to her.
"Don't let it get to you."
Kagome turned to see Keiko Yukimora smiling at her. They hadn't really talked a lot but she seemed nice enough. Not only that she was one of the students that actually passed without any trouble. "Easy for you to say he doesn't fail you for no reason. I just know he's going to enjoy placing a horrid mark on the essay thats due next week."
"Nonsense, why don't you stop by my house this weekend and I can help you. He's just very picky about the details."
"You don't mind? Anything is worth a try, I need to pass this class. The thought of putting up with him another semester is enough to give anyone nightmares." Even her.
"No, it's no problem. Stop by my place sometime on saturday morning, I'll be home. Yusuke is going off for the weekend so there will be no interruptions."
"Great. Thanks, I'd appreciate the help." Kagome got up when class was over and walked outside. She took her time and went by the small bookstore. After getting the book she'd need, she walked outside into the warm sunlight.
Laughter caused her to turn her head. Keiko was standing around with a group of guys, three in total. She wondered if any of them was her fiance, Yusuke. None of the men were standing that close as she figured a lover would do. The one being loud she'd seen around campus, she knew his name was Kuzuma. The other two she'd never seen before, one had long red hair and very pretty for a male but he was definitely male. The other had short black hair that was slicked back, he was cute also. Her heart twitched when she heard the small group break into laughter. It made her miss her own friends, they were lost to her now.
She quickly turned her head when the red head looked up to catch her staring. A blush spread across her face but she continued walking. Not like she'd been staring at him, she'd been watching all of them. Another sigh escaped her as she began her long walk home for the day.
Her walk was completed in peace until she found herself at the steps of the shrine. Her mother greeted her asking about her day, she refrained from mentioning her failing grade. Dinner was soon served and she prepared to head to bed.
Kagome knocked on the door waiting patiently for the other girl to answer. She could hear yelling inside and wondered if she should turn around. Not wanting to be one to eavesdrop on an arguement between Keiko and her fiance. It seemed to be getting pretty heated, the sound of something breaking was heard. A few minutes passed and it became apparent that neither had heard her knock.
The thought of going back home and calling the girl entered her mind. A hand was placed on her shoulder causing her to jump. Her head snapped around to see who was touching her. The guy from the other day was standing behind her with someone else. This guy was even shorter than herself, cute and looked extremely pissed off. She wondered who'd pissed in his o.j. this morning.
"I take it you are here to see Keiko." The red head spoke. He voice was very soft and smooth, go figure.
"How'd you guess?" She quirped, okay maybe it was a little rude.
"Just open the damn door, we don't have all day." The short one seemed ruder.
"Yes," Red walked past her and opened the door calling out. "Yusuke, Yusuke we're here; are you ready to go?"
"Yeah yeah, I'm coming as soon as Keiko gets off my ass."
Kagome watched as the boy with short slick back hair came storming out with the red head. He looked as pissed as the other guy. They both must have drank from the same carton. She smiled at the thought causing her to giggle.
"Great, Keiko one of your air headed friends is here." Yusuke yelled inside the door.
Kagome felt herself bristle at the comment. "Excuse me? You must want me to shove this book up that tight ass of yours. Assuming I can lift your skirt." She screamed at him, he took a step back. Chuckling was heard behind her.
"Right. Keiko's inside." Yusuke glanced over at the girl, he'd never seen her before. And hoped to never see her again. "Let's go guys."
Kagome stepped inside the door and looked around. The place was very neatly decorated, due to Keiko no doubt. "Keiko?" She called out.
"In here, Kagome."
