Chapter one, Prologue
Sango sadly down at her boomerang, Hiraikotsu which lay beneath her feet. It had broken in half from the force Naraku hit it with while dodging her attack.
“Damn him!” she cursed loudly.
They had won their last fight with the cursed hanyou, but they had paid a terrible price.
Kohaku had never fully remembered her, he had been the first to fall; may he finally rest in peace.
After that, everything was lost to haze for the demon slayer. Two memories broke through the fog.
First, she remembered Inuyasha being killed by that bitch Kikyo, the evil half demon’s whore. And her second memory was when Miroku suddenly disappeared under tons of lower level demons, with a cry that would haunt her into the afterlife.
After that, Kagome had gone a little insane.
She had thrown every bit of her miko energy at the evil half demon, and purified him completely.
Then there was nothing.
Sango could not recall what happened to her after that, but she knew she had survived, and that left a bitter taste in her mouth. The tears came silently like raindrops, and the demon huntress hung her head from the shame that came of not to be able to rescue even one of her dead friends!
Kagome was recovering slowly, from her wounds as well as from her lost energy, but her depressed mind and soul lingered.
She had offered to take Sango back with her and the little kit Shippo to live with her in the future, and Sango had accepted her offer. The young miko and the Kitsune kit were all she had left of a family now. Well, those two and now one more. The wind daemoness Kagura.
Kanna and Kagura had made their victory over the evil half demon possible, Kanna had paid the price for their revolt; she died in Kohaku’s arms after he failed to save her from Naraku’s attack. Shortly after that the young boy had died.
Kagura was suffering from wounds like everybody else.
Koga had left her in peace since the battle.
She had rescued most of his tribe, by taking the blow from her creator that had been meant for them.
He made his peace with her as she fell.
After the fight Sesshomaru had taken the bodies of the fallen to a place only he knew, they had not seen him again.
So the shattered remains of the group who had hunted for the shards was about to go through the well and never return.
