Changing Seas
A/N: Hello everyone. This is my second fanfiction and I'll let you know now it is a Sess/Rin fic. For those who have read my previous work, I thank you for coming back to see my newest venture. I mulled over the best way to start this story and I believe I've found it. I truly hope you enjoy and do review. EK!

Chapter One
Captain Tsumiji Owasi watched as his daughter stood by the front rail of his magnificent ship. She was his pride and joy, the one thing he had left to remind him of his wife, god rest her soul. At seventeen the young girl held all the life and luster of her mother. The obsidian locks that hung straight to her midback. The delicate, yet notable curves that set any man to passions flame. Her innocent green eyes sparkled in the descending sunlight. Her elegant gown flowing around her petite feet. The pink satin material draped her arms and cut into a V, showing off decent, yet modest amounts of cleavage. The gown fanned out at the waist from its taught form fitting grip, to the floor. Her creamy complexion left many young woman envious and men drooling. Her face held a child like appearance that screamed innocence. She was the only woman on the prestigious ship, the Defender. She'd grown up on this ship and spent all her life here. Tsumiji would die endless deaths to keep her for himself. The only woman he had left in his life and his only child. Every man on every sea knew that Captain Owasi had nothing left, but the gift, that was his daughter and he would kill anyone of them, if they dared touch the precious young woman.
Rin stood quietly contemplating the sea. She'd lived on a ship her whole life. She was privileged and well accomplished, yet she felt as well as knew something was missing from her existence. She didn't have a mother, of course she knew that, but it wasn't a mother she sought, it was freedom. Many claim that there is no greater freedom than that of the open sea, but when you've known it, lived on it, your entire life, it becomes your jailer. She loved the sea, but it distanced her from the world she never knew. She never set one foot from the hallow wooden structure her father claimed a home. Every stop they made, she attempted to sneak off unnoticed and every time, until age nine, she was caught. Finally at nine years of age her father assigned her a guard, Hiten Umenzu. The man was a mere 3 years her elder, yet he was worthy to guard her. She disliked the man very much. He was arrogant, self-assured, and had an infatuation with her, that her father knew not of. She had contemplated telling him, but he would beat the man to death and Rin would die before causing another being harm.
As a sudden tide took the ship over, spraying an array of salt watery mist over the crew, Rin felt a presence to her left. Turning she looked down to find, Karon, a small snake demon. He was 5' and five years younger than her, but probably her closest friend. He was quite often slithering up on her, in an attempt to scare her. She had grown accustom to his little intrusive slithers and found them full of mirth. She smiled and he gave a grin that would probably frighten the feeling from anyone else’s body, except hers.
"How are you today Rin?" The slight hiss it left on her name made her name sound like he was saying rinse.
"Quite well, I suppose. It's frightfully dull today and the sea is oddly calm. Might I ask the meaning of this delightful chat?" Rin's eyes twinkled with friendly compassion, as her friend slid closer.
"Harper, the new American lad that joined the ranks last week, informed me that we'd be making port at next city." Good old Karon, forever her partner in scheming against Hiten and her father, whom refuse to let her get closer to shore than the railing on either side of the ship.
Giving a subtle nod she grinned and turned back to the seas where, suddenly the sunset seemed enrapturing. 'A glorious night it shall be.' Rin's face broke out into a full smile as she turned on heel and marched to the lower cabins. Tonight she would not fail in her scheme to slight Hiten and move a shore.

Jaken tripped over himself to return a filled glass of rum to his captain. The ship gave a sudden lurch and the glass flew up in the air, liquid flying everyone, soaking the misty gray throw rug in the shape of a rectangle in front of a large mahogany desk. The imp demon turned greener as he rushed to clean the soaked items, while apologizing profusely. Rushing to refill the glass a third time that hour, Jaken set it down in reach of the tall muscular man who sat behind the desk. The man's flowing silver hair lay around his shoulders reaching midthigh. The sharp golden eyes and striking crescent and stripes on his face showed severity and authority. His pointed nose added nicely to his features. At the moment he was pinning the toad with a pointed stare.
"Jaken. The affairs with Captain Owasi, how are they coming? Has he conceded to merge our domains?" The voice that cut the air seemed to fit the man it came from perfectly.
"Unfortunately, Captain, Owasi has rebuffed the generous offer. He has also threatened war on anyone who dare touch his domain, in the slightest." The imp coward and winced as if fearing for his health.
"Fool. The man has been given so many opportunities to gain our alliance and he refuses again. This means war and we will not concede. We head out tonight to show Captain Owasi who exactly he has crossed." The look in his eyes was blank and his expression mirrored nothing of his thoughts. "Prepare the crew, tonight we sail." The conversation ended right then and there and the toad scurried off.

Rin had set it up so that her bed looked like she was still sleeping in it. Karon had brought her a few extra pillows and ran a bedpan over the covers lightly to make them seem warm. She was wearing men’s clothes over her gown, to ensue her getting off the ship. She tucked her hair into the bandana on her head. Giving her appearance the once over in her looking glass, she slipped into the hall. The crews were running around and paid her little to no heed.
She passed Karon and he gave her a hiss and wink. Resisting the urge to giggle, Rin picked up a sack of some kind and followed a man off the ship. She hadn't tried anything like this since she was fourteen, but then she had been caught because they hadn't picked up Karon yet to help her. She set foot on ground and stopped. It felt so....so....new? She walked on as a man grunted behind her and shoved her roughly in the shoulder. She tossed the sack on the growing pile by the door of a bakery and ran off through the growing crowd of citizens gathering to trade goods. She slid into an alley and pulled off her bandana, pants, boots, and shirt. The gorgeous blue lace gown she wore underneath was a dream on her. The sleeves came to three quarter lengths on her arms and a boat neck flattered her nicely. She pulled a pair of heels from the huge deep pockets of the overly baggy mans pants she had worn.
She wandered for a while down the streets and then a small building with music wafting from it caught her attention and she went in. Glancing around, Rin made her way to what looked like a large wooden bar. A man sat behind it cleaning glasses and serving alcohol. Men leered at her and one grabbed her. She pulled away and slapped him across the face smartly. He stood up and kicked back his chair.
"Watch it wench." She backed away disgusted, insulted, and ever most fearful. She backed up so far she hit a stool and tripped over it. Strong arms caught her and she looked up to see a sneering pirate, a friend of the other lurid man.
"Unhand me sir." It was command of her high station that should put a man in his place.
The man laughed heartily and gave her a shake.
"Sir? I think she should come with us don't you, Tain?" The man who she had slapped grinned and gave a nod looking her up and down appreciatively. "Then let's take her." Rin struggled against the harsh grasp of the brass mans hands.
"Put me down. My father will kill you if you do not unhand me." Rin struggled and strained kicking her legs out.
"Your father? Oh who's he a sea merchant or perhaps the baker?" The men laughed together heartily and loudly.
"Captain Tsumiji Owasi." She stated her fathers name proudly and, but her voice still shook slightly. 'I should never have disobeyed him. Damn my curiosity.'
"Captain-. Oh I think that Captain should hear about this. Come on angel move it." The man gave a hard shove and pulled her along with him to the ship. The two men pulled her roughly and swiftly to the ship. The second they reached the Deadly Sea, the men dragged her, kicking and screaming, on board.
KNOCK! KNOCK! "Enter" came the chilled voice of the captain. They proceeded forward and threw the young girl on the floor. Rin scurried to her feet the second she hit the cabin floor. She huffed then faced the captain. She glared at the captain.
"Captain, this Rin, Captain Owasi's daughter." Sesshomaru looked up and appraised the girl. He waved off the two crewmen and they left. He stood came around the desk and.....
