Chapter One

Kagome Higurashi stepped out of her families shrine. Her long raven locks reached a couple inches below her waist and her steely blue eyes roamed over the holy land she had once called her home. The grimace that graced her face as a hand snagged at her arm lightened as she turned to see her nine year old brother. He had tugged on her arm lightly to get her attention. "Kagome when are you gonna come visit again. I don't want you to leave." was her little brother's sad plea. "I'll come back in a few months and you can call me if you need anything you know that. Now be a good boy and go back inside before okaa-san gets upset." was the twenty year olds reply. They went through this everytime she came to visit. The little boy nodded tears in his eyes as he turned. Kagome felt bad and bent down and gave him a quick hug and kiss. "Listen I'll come and visit for your birthday instead of just sending the gift this year. Better?" the little boys face lit up and he nodded vigoriously. "Good now get inside." she command and the little boy raced off.

The woman made her way down the shrine steps and into the back seat of the taxi waiting for her. She was headed for the airport. Living in New York and flying out from her college wasn't easy at all. Kagome went to NYU and lived in a small apartment off campus. Every three to four months she'd come to visit her mother and brother. She tried to make her visits more frequent since the death there father and her grandfather being of old age couldn't really do much for them. As Kagome leaned against the seat, her head on the glass of the window she peered at her childhood home and sighed. Every thing in her life had become such a problem. Even school was an annoyance. Though she was top student of her class she was still struggling to find a balance between who she was now and who she was still trying to be.

The airport came into view as the cab rounded the exit. Pulling up to the curb her cabby grabbed her bags and pulled them from the trunk. Making her way over to her bags, Kagome paid the man his yen and rolled her now carted luggage to the security strip. Placing her bags on the convayer belt, she walked through a metal detector.

She followed the crowd heading toward her plane and plopped down on her seat once inside. 'It's been such a long time since I've been here. If Sango hadn't offered to pay my side of the rent this month I wouldn't have been able to come at all.' Sango was Kagome's roommate. She too went to school at NYU and had taken to Kagome as if she was her older sister. Sango came from a rich family and only went to college so she could take over her father's Karate studio, which she needed buisness classes for. Kagome on the other hand was striving to be a writer. She had started writing books at age twelve granted that was in the sixth grade but it seemed to have stuck to her personality. She had published one book in the eleventh grade. A story of feudal japan. A romance of a miko and a hanyou.

Kagome's mind drifted to her own romantic life but realized it only consisted of a stalk like boy named Hojo and a possessive upperclassman named Kouga. Both boys had it bad for Kagome but she didn't care for either, as more than a friend. Hojo was too perfect and yet boring in the same sense of nothing better could happen to him and Kouga, well Kouga was too egotisical. He constantly referred to her as his 'woman'. She had gone on a few dates with Hojo, only to appease her pestering friends Eri, Yuka, and Ayumi. They had turned out to be the most boring two hours of Kagomes life each time. It seemed to bemuse her on how much worse it got with each date. Kouga had presued Kagome after those dates thinking that he had some chance with her but Kagome's only reply was 'No'.

The plane experienced some turbulance and everything shifted slightly. The man seated next to Kagome gave a grunt from his ailse seat where luggage had dislodged itself on him. Kagome snapped up to help him but he grumble and shoved her hands away. "I can do it myself wench." snapped a silver haired man with golden eyes. Despite his obvious distaint to help, Kagome pulled the luggage off the man and replaced it securely above her seat on the rack. "My names Kagome. Not wench so get it straight." was her cool but fierce reply. The man babbled about not caring and folded his arms returning to a sleepless rest. Sighing Kagome sat back in her own seat and didn't say a word.

Two hours and an arguement later Kagome was glaring at the silver haired imbeccile next to her. He refused to take his food from the flight attendant and so the drink she had once held out for the disgruntled twenty-two year old went flying when they experienced some more turbulance. It was coke and it land on top of not only the guy but Kagome as well bursting open and spraying himself and Kagome in the process. They argued because Kagome had yelled in his ear and then he refused to apologize for the whole soda incident. "You a pompous asshole you know that right?" shouted Kagome snagging many stares not that she noticed. "Well your a disrespectful bitch you know THAT right?" was his counter. A flight attendant stepped up to ask the two bickering people to lower their voices. "Excuse me, but you and your girlfriend need to stop shouting. Your disturbing the other people." came the voice of a red haired green eyed woman. "HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND!" was the disgusted shout from Kagome. "Sorry you just...well anyway please stop shouting people are complaining." was the girls nervous reply. The silver haired man 'Kehed' and Kagome 'humphed'.

There was a sudden bang and the curtains to first class burst open. "Everybody stay calm and no one will be killed." screamed a man with a gun. The whole plane went up into a frenzy and people were shouting and trying to run but there was no where to go. A shot resounded thought the chaos and people froze. The red haired flight attend who had asked Inuyasha, whom revealed his name to an attendant who gave him nuts, and Kagome was shot in the head and fell dead to the floor. Kagome shrieked but Inuyasha covered her mouth and shielded her as thought to protect her. The man made his way to the dead woman and pointed his gun at Kagome who was cowering behind Inuyasha. "Stay quiet. You woman are to come with me." he pointed the gun at her again this time in the head. Inuyasha went to argue but stopped when the gun was pointed at him. "You stay quiet and give me the woman." said the tall brut like man who had brown shoulder length hair and big biceps. "NO, she stays with me or I go with her." said Inuyasha with a fierce growl. He didn't know why he felt he had to protect this bitch but in truth he didn't care. "Fine move the two of you to the front." ordered the burly man.

As they moved Inuyasha spun around and.........
