Chapter One
Crossing Paths
The figure stood masked in a cloak as they stood at the edge of the cliff looking up at the dragon sealed to the higher cliff wall only feet away. In the dragon's chest was a broken fang pinning it to the stone and dirt. The wind was mild here lifting the cloak up and back slightly ruffling it in its presence revealing only part of the body that stood there. The figure was decked out in battle gear. The uniform clothing underneath was white with green at the wrists and shoulder while the sash was green as well. The armor consisted of wrist guards that covered the top of the hand up to the elbows, chest armor, thigh armor that extended from the chest armor and back part and shin guards all black with green outlining it while a no symbols lay on it; small spikes went around the shoulders and wrists. At the waist in the green sash two swords were held, one a Katana and the other an older looking more powerful sword. Pulling the hood back the figure stood with a bridal over their mouth and their blue hair up in a ponytail. The black cloak drifted back when the wind died but still the figure did not move. Again the wind picked up gusting around the figure and tears slowly welled in their eyes while they narrowed dangerously, angrily and turned bright green in a flash their hair following...
Everything had been lost that fateful day...
A father, a husband, lives, love, a Great Lord, and a good friend. All lost in only a few short hours...
The night was young and the sky was clear while the moon and stars shone brightly in their black blanket above. The air was clear and the wind was close to none while the greenery was lush and still, many nights were like this one. Sixty lonely years had gone by but to a demon that wasn't long in their life span. In that time she had traveled all over Japan leaving the Western Lands to its Lord. A great Evil had appeared a little more then fifty years ago by the name of Naraku. He had killed many and even a Priestess and caused the one she knew to be Inuyasha to be sealed to a tree before the Priestesses death. Traveling the paths and forests through the lands was lonely with a heavy heart.
Now she sat upon a boulder over looking a lake with wooded area all around. The water was still with the exception of a couple fish causing ripples by jumping every now and then. The crickets sang their nightly song while the birds slept to ready for their morning ritual at dawn. Although she was well known through out the demons and some of the humans she was still with out a mate, or a friend in the world and the memories of the past weighed greatly on her heart stabbing at her soul. At times she would challenge demons she knew to be powerful just to invite death to release her of this pain she hid deep down from all eyes.
Her thoughts were disturbed by giggling and splashing down the shore a little ways. Humans. In water swimming with demons…and at such a time as this? They were either foolish or brave.
Upon coming closer to the humans she noted there weren’t just humans but two demons, a fox and a fire Neko, as well as a...Hanyou...a half demon? The scent was familiar to her, it couldn't be.
Standing in the brush her eyes narrowed slightly as she watched the two teenage girls swim and bathe in the water while the small Kitsune (fox demon) played with the Neko in the shallow water. A monk sat with his back to the water his golden staff across his lap with a red mark of a hand print across his cheek in front of the fire. Where was the Hanyou?
"You're humans are foolish to bathe in such a location half breed." she said not even moving when the sword was to her back. Her cloak hid hers and what she wore under it. Something jumped onto her shoulder and she snatched it with a grin and held it before her. It was a tiny flea demon Named Myouga, Inutaisho's old friend and Advisor. With the bridal around her neck her grin was free to see by the world and her eyes lit up with a mischievous fire.
"Well hello Myouga." she said sweetly. "Still think you can get a free meal from me?"
*squish*
"I should have known better..." the tiny demon said as he floated to the earth flat as a pancake.
"Myouga who the hell is this?" Inuyasha asked in confusion.
"If you would kindly remove your father's sword from my back I would gladly show you young Lord." When the sword was down she turned and showed herself to the Hanyou. His eyes widened as he recognized her.
"Lady Tikya?" he blurted out with out realizing it.
"Inuyasha you always were a cute one." Tikya joked with a warm smile.
"Don't call me that." he warned annoyed.
"As you wish." she said stepping from the bushes with Inuyasha and Myouga on her shoulder again. The girls had gotten out and were dressed now sitting by the fire. When they looked up only Miroku the monk knew who she was other then the small fox child.
"Lady Tikya." The two said at once. This made Sango's eyes widen, the demon exterminator had studied this female demon while growing up.
"The Lady Tikya?" she asked standing up with adoring eyes her hand clasped excitedly at her chest.
Tikya arched a brow slightly in uneasiness. This slayer must see her as a celebrity or something...
"Yes..." she answered before she could ask another question Tikya turned to Inuyasha.
"I need to speak with you." she told him. "If you and Myouga would accompany me a short distance from here I would appreciate it. My questions do no need to fall on other ears."
"Yah, sure." Inuyasha said walking back into the bushes.
Tikya followed with out hesitation Myouga staying silent on her shoulder.
Inuyasha sat on the ground silently with his arms folded slightly and his head turned to the side away from her focusing on nothing. By the look on his face Tikya knew her presence had stirred things inside him that had been locked away for a long time.
"Inuyasha how did your mother pass away?" Tikya asked sadly.
Inuyasha closed his eyes his head lowering at the painful question.
"She was murdered is all I know." he told her lifting his head and looking off again.
"Lord Inuyasha was too young to remember much of it Lady Tikya." Myouga butt it answering her next question of how old he was when it happened.
"Inuyasha if I would have known I would have taken you into my care instead of you being on your own." she said as she leaned against a tree in front of him.
"Lady Tikya what has caused you to ask such questions?" the tiny demon asked from her shoulder.
She gave a sigh and looked away like Inuyasha was.
"After traveling so many years on my own with so many secrets and a heavy heart I need release. I have tried many times to end my pitiful life after Lord Inutaisho's death that I can't count them any more. Some how I feel that everything that has robbed Inuyasha of his home, his father and mother and chance for a happy life was my fault." she paused for a second. "He brought me back to only have his life taken in return...I could see it in Sesshoumaru's eyes that he blamed me." she let out a small laugh then and lifted her eyes to the sky through the trees.
Inuyasha was listening to her now with a slight saddened expression.
"I should have put him in his place that day instead of letting him kick young Inuyasha out with his mother. If I would have done so I would still own my father's land and the rest of the west as well. It would have gone to Inuyasha when he was of age..." She sighed again closing her eyes.
"Inuyasha if you feel that anything that has happened is my fault, I hope you can forgive me. I was only trying to save the lives of your family. I had no idea he would take the battle to Ryu himself before I had a chance to weaken him."
Inuyasha stood with out looking at her. "Nothing is your fault. I blame Sesshoumaru...for everything."
"Thank you for listening and answering my questions." she said pulling her cloak over her shoulders. "I hope that our paths cross again." she said with a slight smile walking away into the darkness.
Myouga jumped up onto Inuyasha shoulder as they walked back to camp. Inuyasha was deeply troubled now. After so long these feeling had been locked away and the memories that brought them on.
Thank you so much for that.
I hope you like this one just a much, if not more.
