A Deal Sealed
On her knees, head bowed and hands clasped in her lap, she sat in her black Kimono with bright green trim next to her father. Hikori was the War Lord to the north east of the western lands who presently he was in a truce with. The Lord Inutaisho, from the Western Lands was in audience with the War Lord and the truce would last if the deal was done but if not the lord would be safe until out of Hikori’s territory.
“I hope we can come to an agreement Lord Inutaisho. If not there will only be more bloodshed, wasted resources, and loses for both parties.” Hikori said strongly sitting tall on his straw mat cross legged in his empty room. The War Lord used it to clear his mind.
The Dog demon was dressed in a white silk outfit his long silvery white hair tied back and braided. His golden eyes never left the War Lord before him.
“I too wish a deal to end this war, it would benefit both our lands.” His emotionless voice trailed. The demon’s face had never changed since his stay in Hikori’s territory, impassive.
“Tikya have a servant bring drinks.” The grey haired demon said to his daughter giving her a glance.
She nodded and stood giving the Western Lord a small bow before leaving the room.
Once out of the room she smiled hopping they would come to a peaceful agreement at the end of this all. She was tired of her father’s outbursts of rage about the casualties in the now thirty year old war. The demon was getting old and needed to rest, he wouldn’t be able to fight for much longer and this war needed to come to an end. Tikya was the only daughter of Hikori but wasn’t the only child, she had an older brother but he had parished early in the war in an overwhelmingly large ambush.
Upon entering the room again Tikya was greeted by Inutaisho and her father. Her father was smiling but the Lord was not.
Something was wrong.
“Tikya you will journey with Lord Inutaisho to his land where you will be wed to his son, young lord Sesshoumaru. If Inutaisho was not wed already you would have wed him but this way ties with our lands will be strong. You leave tonight.” Hikori said proudly.
Tikya’s pale face went paper white, she hadn’t anticipated this move from her father. He hadn’t told her this might happen…
“Father are you sure about this?” she asked worry seeping into her voice.
“There is no other way?” she was speaking out when she wasn’t supposed to and she suddenly realized her mistake.
“Bite your tongue pup.” He snapped at her suddenly, his tanned completion darkening in anger.
“You never told me I would be sold to him.” She snapped back.
“What if I refuse?” She had stepped past her boundries.
Her fathers hand came hard across her cheek his claws cutting into her flesh as he gave a warning growl. Inutaisho stepped forward and placed a hand on the War Lord’s shoulder.
“If the Lady Tikya does not wish to come tonight she may take her time Lord Hikori.” He said gently.
Tikya angrily bared her fangs at her father the corners of her eyes starting to bleed red when she turned her head back to him.
“I promised mother on her death bed I wouldn’t lose my temper to you but I will not hesitate to kill you next time if you so much as lay a finger on me.” She hissed at him before storming out of the room.
“Forgive my daughter Lord Inutaisho she is still young.” Hikori said his eyes still on the doors. Inutaisho stayed silent.
On horse back Tikya rode beside Inutaisho both silent since they left. A small group of guards had a protective formation around them incase of an attack but Tikya did not need protection. At her side she carried her demon sword made from her mother’s fang like Inutaisho’s own twin swords Tensiaga and Tetsiaga. Running her hand through her blue hair she gave a small sigh before taking hold of the rains again her light sky blue eyes on the road a head of them. Inutaisho looked over at her and watched her for a moment. She was still in her black and green but had changed into pants and a top for the ride. A saddle bag on either side of the horse held her clothes and personal belongings which didn’t seem much. Tikya knew she brought little but the little she had was truly hers and not her fathers.
“If you wish to speak to me Lord Inutaisho do not hesitate, I am not a weak child.” She informed him not even taking time to glance at him.
“If you do not like the idea of marrying my son then why did you agree to accompany me?” He asked still watching her.
She closed her eyes gently then opened them and turned her head to him.
“Because I can’t stand my father and would rather be in your company. I will give myself time to get to know your son before I decide but he must also give me time.” She turned back to the road. “He doesn’t know does he? About the marriage I mean.”
Inutaisho looked ahead and his voice became emotionless.
“Sesshoumaru knows what can be involved in War fare deals. He knows he might end up marrying a female to seal a deal one day or another. I know he will not be pleased at first but give it time. Perhaps both of you can become friends if you do not become lovers.” He told her taking a deep breath. Inutaisho stopped the horse and Tikya followed him.
Lifting her nose to the wind she caught the scent of burning flesh, blood and smoke. A human village was under attack.
“Not while I’m alive…” she trailed angrily kicking the horse’s side making it take off in a run.
Inutaisho followed behind the young woman quickly his guards right on his heals. So this young woman had compassion for human...
