Death In The Past

'Damn, I just can't believe it. There she is, my best friend... and she's kissing my man.' Kagome stood still, crouched behind a nearby tree. Staying as quet as possible, so the delicate ears of the youkai lord wouldn't pick up the sound of her. Kagome watched, in horror and shock to see her best friend with the one she loved. Though she did love this youkai openly, she was a priestess and was not allowed to see him, she hadn't even told this young lord her feelings. But now her friend, a priestess was breaking all the rules.
There, in a clearing, in the center of the deep forest, the high priestess of the village and the young youkai lord shared an intimate embrace. Their lips were pressed together tightly, and the youkai man held her gently in his arms. Breaking their kiss, a small whisper escaped his lips.
"I... I love you Kikyou..." he breathed out, against her ear. Kagome could tell by the way she shivered, that she loved him as well. And she would not stand for that. She and Kikyou were best friends, they had been since they were born. And when the young youkai lord, Sesshoumaru, came into their territory, they were both tempted by his charm. He was a powerful man, and soon he would succeed his father and become the lord of the Western Lands. And now it was plainly obvious that sesshoumaru had chosen Kikyou.
'I'll get you Kikyou... you will pay for this...' she hid behind the tree, pressing herself tightly against the hard bark. Hoping that Kikyou would pass by without noticing that she was spying on her. She did so exactly, walking by with a smile on her face. Her cheeks stained with a deep pink blush. "Kikyou!" screamed Kagome, aiming an arrow at her ex friend. Her rage taking over her actions. Normaly she would be happy for her friend, but now it had come down to the end. Kikyou it seemed was always being ravished by her life. She was chosen to protect the Shikon no Tama, she was the respected one, and she now had Sesshoumaru.
"Ka.. gome... did you see that? I.. I'm sorry..." Kikyou looked surprised, but she was just afraid of losing her friend. She backed up a few steps, hoping that her friend wasn't this angry. She couldn't be, they were the best of friends. Unless... she had fallen in love with the young Lord Sesshoumaru as well.
"Kikyou! There is no going back now! You are not my friend! I loved him, and you knew that! But you did it anyways! How far did it go? How long have you been doing this?" Her questions were loud, and she was becoming impatient. Kagomes priestess pure soul was now sinister with her malice. Kikyou back up, tears now flowed down her cheeks, "No Kagome.. I'm sorry... please don't... I'm sorry..." she was backed up against another tree now, turning her head, not wanting to look at the enraged face of the one who she thought was her friend.
"NO! There is no way I will let you get away with this!" and Kagome let her fingers relax, her arrow stayed true to it's mark and hit Kikyou square in the chest just to the right of her heart. Kikyou cried out, letting her last tear slip away, letting out her last breath, "Sessh..." Kagome hoped that this arrow would peirce her heart directly, letting all of Kikyous love for Sesshoumaru flow out. But all that flowed was her own blood. She felt a rip in her flesh, and watched in horrible slow motion as the ground came swiftly to her face.
She turned to see a tall white figure standing over her, "Wench, how dare you do this to Kikyou!" Kagome realized that it was Sesshoumaru, her heart cracked knowing that the one she loved would kill her, all for the love of Kikyou. She then looked up at the miko pinned to the tree, she had released the sacred jewel from her grasp and Kagome grabbed it before she let out her final breath.
And so that's how it was, a tragedy for the Eastern Village. Having to put enchanted seals around their beloved Priestess Kikyou, and to burn the other's body. Sending her ashes, and the Shikon no Tama back to the earth, covering the spot on the ground with a small stone grave mark. And there they would remain, and eventually fade into the distant minds and dissapear forever...
