She jerked awake, sweat making her thick raven hair cling to the tender column of her slender neck. The voice always called to her, in her sleep, during school, it didn’t matter where she was, it always seemed to call to her. Begging in a deep voice to come to it. I’m losing my mind. She thought to herself as she pushed her covers to the side and slung her legs over the edge of her down-feather bed. It was, yet, another day and the sun hadn’t even risen about the horizon. Oh man! It’s only 4:58! Jeez! Could you at least wake me up a little later then this next time!? She seethed at her hidden voice, standing; she figured she would use the time to finish the homework she hadn’t finished the night before.

Kagome jerked, her warm chocolate brown eyes widening in shock horror. She had been talking back to the voice and it had answered! Now, she knew she was losing her mind; the voice was only a part of her imagination, it’s what she kept telling herself. Kagome worked hard all through the morning, hoping to keep the voice at bay. I’m not losing my mind! Really! I’m fine… I was only talking to my self!

She shoved the voice aside, refusing to acknowledge it. The sun slowly crept over the horizon just as she slammed her math book shut with a satisfied grunt. For once, I’ve completed my work without worrying about missing class!

“Kagome? Are you up?” The sound of her mother’s voice broke her train of thought and she decided to not answer him.
“Yes, mom! I’m up!” Kagome quickly dressed and placed all her stuff into her backpacforefore slinging it over her shoulder and marching down the stairs. “Is breakfast ready?” She entered the kitchen to find her mother standing over the stove, cooking eggs.
“Just about, hun. My, you look worn this morning, is something wrong?” Kagome just shook her head, how could she tell her mother that she’s been hearing voices for the past 2 years, that with each day, the voice becomes stronger and seems to becoming closer? She couldn’t, her mother would demand she see a shrink or maybe even a priest.
Now that would be bad.
The priest I know is quite the letch.

She groaned, closing her eyes. Of course he knew, he knew everything she thought it seemed like. The cloak in the living room chimed, letting her know that she only had a few more minutes before she had to race out the door and try and beat the cloak to class.
