Hey! It's nice to see you around again Hime!
I don't think I read this piece of yours before. It is beautifully written. Good descriptions ~ I loved the way you described Kikyou as tasting "hot and smoky, like herbs and fire". Those are descriptions I wouldn't have expected to see paired with Kikyou, and they work very well and bring an extra dimension to her character.
Hope to see you around more!

I liked it! Naraku's mental musings were very interesting. He still came off as evil, all the nastiness one would expect, but some of his thoughts (his feelings over how Kikyou treats him, over Kanna, over his own inadequacies and fears) made me start to feel just the smallest bit of pity for him. It made him a more rounded character than he is often made and I really enjoyed that. i think because now I'm really engaged in wondering what is going to happen to him, how it will affect him. Is he going to suffer terribly from Kikyou and his unrequited obsession over her? Is he going to free Kanna? Save her? Kill her eventually? And if he does, how much will he suffer internally for it?
All very psychologically fascinating, moreso now that he's not just 'evil incarnate with no reason but the fact that he's, um, evil.' :-)
Kanna has struck a cord with my curiosity as well: very sad character. She seems so trapped, and her lack of any effort to save herself or change things made her seem even more tragic and lost to me.
Kikyou - oooh, she sounds like such the cold, nasty bitch. Actually, she comes off as the cold bastard that Naraku is often pictured as, at least that was my impression.
I am most definitely going to be watching for more chapters.
