*sigh* That was ... wonderful. I feel like I just received either a late Christmas gift or an early birthday present. ^_^ Thanks so much for this lovely, lovely chapter!
I really enjoyed seeing Yusuke ignore Genkai's warnings and seek Kagome out. His reassurances and the way he confided in her about Hiei and Kuramam were just great. I loved the tidbit you threw in about him being embarrassed to talk about his "sacrifice" for Kurama when it hadn't cost him his life and hers had cost her hers. Of course, he DID sacrifice his life for a kid earlier on, so he shouldn't be so hard on himself. ^_^ I liked the way she teased him about Keiko and he picked up on her sadness about Hiei's hatred towards her. Having hiei wander in as they were talking about her saving him was a great touch. It was so interesting that he hadn't really thought about the fact that she had chosen to save HIM out of all the ones there even though it had cost her. And it really changed his thoughts about what had happened and about his feelings about being tied to her. Niiiice. ^_~
I liked her thoughts about Kohaku. After the mishap in the Reikai, she can really identify with him on an entirely new level. That was a brilliant touch. And you completely nailed some central qualities about her that I have been thinking a lot about lately. "She never bothered her friends in the past with what she felt or thought." I've been really making a point about that in my writing about her lately, too. She was always unfailingly cheerful and optimistic, and always seemed so confident in herself and in their abilities to defeat Naraku. And you KNOW she had to be scared and worried, but she never let it show. And her number one priority is to protect her new friends, -- even from herself. Love it!!
I could have stood up and cheered when Hiei followed her into the woods. AND when Kurama mused to himself that Hiei was interested in her. ^_^ I'm glad you had him probe into her thoughts as she slept. He would rather find out things directly, I think, instead of having to wait until she felt like telling him. And you seem to know exactly which issues I love to see addressed and you're doing a bang-up job so far. ^_^ I loved it that Hiei almost felt ill when he saw how much she had suffered over a hanyou who had chosen a dead woman over her, -- over the TRUST she gave him. You're hitting all the right notes. "The hanyou, a race of demon that was despised even as much as those like him were, had been given a gift that he tossed away as if it were invaluable, like a stick in a forest or a pebble on a mountainside." Beautiful!! You slew me with that one. and if that wasn't enough, "He had earned her respect by doing nothing, and she had earned his by doing everything." Ah!!! I can go to bed happy now and just dream of your next fabulous chapter. Bravo!!

Beautiful story. I love it. It´s something completely new and thus unique. Your style is very good as well.
Did you decide the pairing yet?
If not.. Please don´t make this Hiei/Kagome. Nearly EVERY hetero-crossover-pairing is Hiei/Kagome. There are tons of Hiei/Kagome out there. PLEASE don´t make this the 1000.000th Hiei/Kagome- fic.
I would read it anyway, but it would be quite the change, if you would put Kagome up with anyone but Hiei (and it would make me reeeeally happy);-b

Oh, YAY!!! I was so happy to see a new chapter for this up!! And it was a great one, too. ^_^ I have to say I'm enjoying Hiei's thoughts and feelings. You're doing such a great job writing him. His thoughts that he will dog her steps for years if he has to in order to find out what she did so she or anyone else will never be able to do it to him again was perfect. AND he feels like he is being tied to her. Veeerrry interesting. I love it! ^_^
I was intrigued that he chose to follow Kuwabara to see what he could find out from her mother instead of going into the Makai. I love it that her mother still thought of Sesshoumaru as the enemy. They got a very different picture of Inuyasha than the other two did. Her mother doesn't know ... that's rather sad, but it's really going to be more sad if/when she finds out what happened. (Speaking of which, -- as soon as I finish typing this review, I'm going back to read the whole thing over. ^_^)
I LOVE the bloodstains on the Tetsusaiga! That was such a great touch! Brilliant! And I was stunned by Inuyasha's accusation that Yusuke and Kurama were her new lovers. It sounds like he's been living in a dream world, deluding himself about her and his own feelings all these years. "I am her first love." "She will not cast me aside." Holy smoley, you're setting up an awesome confrontation sometime in the future, aren't you? I can't wait!! *claps hands in glee* But even at his declaration, they could tell he didn't return those feelings. I was so happy to hear Yusuke's assurance to Sesshoumaru that they wouldn't let Inu get near her.
Loved the brief mention of Kouga! This was just an awesome chapter, and you've got me all hyped up for MORE!! I'm glad Kagome impressed Genkai with her determination to go ahead and work on controlling her powers so she wouldn't hurt anyone. That's the Kagome we all know and love. *sigh* I will be waiting most anxiously for your next update.

Wow this was a great story. Poor Kagome though, all that she's gone through and still more to come!! I can't wait for the next chapter soon.
