Holy cow, this is a fantastic story. It's so malicious and dark that I can feel each pained emotion crawling on my skin like insects, or going down my throat like the sting of straight liquor. This is a hard read, not because of the writing's caliber but more because of its rawness. The journey is both macabre and fascinating, and to be quite honest I'm so engrossed (eww, bad pun) in the struggle of each individual as they overcome this trial that I almost forget to root for a particular pairing. Are you even planning a pairing? I do see hints of Youko/Kagome, which I'm *always* a huge fan of, but beneath those hints lie something more curious: who does he remind her of? Of course, we can guess, but you've recreated such indepth worlds for these familiar characters that I have no clue what to expect, nor any desire to assume. Really, I'm not going to push for any pairing at all, because I'm much too intrigued by the themes of pain, loss, and suffering to really think about love at the moment. But then, could love become redemptive if this hellish journey takes more drastic turns? Guess I'll have to wait and find out. Great stuff, can't wait to read more.

I really enjoy this fic. Nakago is one of my favourite characters in FY. Cold, dark and ruthless characters are just more interesting, like Hiei.
