Um, -yasha is not a feminine word. It's a flurished, slang sort of version of the word for demon (there are several), much like you might say jammin or gotcha. Translated, Inuyasha just means Dog Demon. Otherwise there are a few male students in my classes here in Japan who would be very upset to learn their mothers gave them feminine names.
